Azalea Festival and events in Brookings
The Azalea Festival is Brookings' best-known annual event. According to its official site, it has been held since 1939 and is recognized as an Oregon Heritage Tradition. It takes place over Memorial Day weekend. The City of Brookings Azalea Festival Committee runs it with community groups, volunteers and service organizations.
What the festival includes
The festival site describes a Saturday-morning parade, a street market at 5th Street and Highway 101, and events at Azalea Park such as concerts, a talent show and the festival ceremony. Community groups add their own events, such as a kids' fishing pond, a car show and a plant sale. The festival site also posts a rain plan.
